There are times when I simply do not have enough hours in the day to give the full attention that my work here requires, why must we sleep?

Location Sound Recording Class

Introduction to On-Location Sound Recording

SRI-A: Saturday, May 12, 2012, 9 - 5pm
SRD-B: Saturday, November 17, 2012, 9 - 5pm
Instructor: Dennis Schweitzer
Tuition: $195

This one-day class covers the basic aspects of recording quality sound on location. It will start with an overview of several different types of microphones, such as wireless and shotgun microphones with different pick-up patterns for different applications. The workshop will look at recording capabilities of various digital cameras, such as the Panasonic HVS200 and the Canon EOS 5D, and discuss several types of audio set-ups. The class will cover the use of a field mixer such as the Sound Devices 442 for control of levels, monitoring, phantom power, and recording multiple channels. In addition, techniques will be explored for placing wireless microphones onto actors and avoiding unwanted background noise.
