My SFI training gave me the skills, abilities, and perhaps most importantly, the work ethic and professionalism to be immediately competitive and employable in Hollywood.

The Role of Music in Film

MIF-A: Saturday, May22, 2010, 10am-4pm
MIF-B: Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, 10am-4pm

Instructor: Chris Julian
Tuition: $145.00

This intensive one-day course will examine the history, theory and practice of film scoring. We will look at the great milestones in film history where music and composers played an essential role, and how scores and soundtracks have become an integral part of filmmaking in our culture.

We will study the various philosophies behind the creation of a score and a sound mix, as well as the process by which filmmakers and composers collaborate, and the practical approaches that are taken in producing scores for both large-scale and small independent films. Whether you are a filmmaker, a musician, or a composer, this course will broaden your understanding of how music and sound interact with motion pictures, creating an infinite range of possibilities.
